About Us

People have a lot of questions when they first see our website. We tried to pick what we expected would be the most common, and answered them below. If you still have questions after reading this, feel free to contact us or browse our site a bit to see if we haven’t answered your question somewhere else.

The Entire Bible is About Jesus?

Yes, it is. Jesus explains that the Old Testament is about Himself on no fewer than three occasions. In the John 5:39 He tells the Jews, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.” The Jews thought they could find eternal life through keeping the commandments Moses had given them, but Moses had written of Jesus. To truly believe Moses is to believe Jesus (John 5:46).

In Luke 24, He tells two groups of people that the Old Testament testified to His suffering and subsequent resurrection. He tells the men on the road to Emmaus that since they did not understand Jesus suffering and glorification, they did not understand “all that the prophets had spoken.” Starting with Moses, then, and working through the prophets, He “interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:13–27). Later on, He met with His Disciples and told them that the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms (a phrase that, to a Jewish mind, meant the entirety of what Christians call the Old Testament) all wrote about Him.

The New Testament is also about Jesus. This can be shown clearly in the verse from which this website takes its name. Paul, speaking for Himself and at least Timothy (cf. Col 1:1) writes “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Col 1:28). Within the context, the Him there is Jesus. Paul is saying that the message of the Apostles (who wrote the New Testament) and the message of the church is Jesus Christ. That makes sense since the Old Testament was also all about Him.

What Do You Do?

We believe that the message of Jesus is often lost among professing evangelical Christians. Many people proclaim the Bible as being about what we must do in order to be right with God. Others believe it is a guidebook for life. Still more find it to be a disconnected jumble of stories that contain some moral values. Few people treat it as a proclamation of the person and work of Jesus Christ. That number, however, is growing thanks in part to the help of organizations like The Gospel Coalition and The Resurgence.

Understanding that the Bible is about Jesus is quite a different thing than reading and teaching it that way. This website exists to help educate people. We provide a variety of resources. The resources section contains pages of links to website recommendations, specific articles, book recommendations, favorite sermons, and some of our own resources. The resources section is largely static and contains only the best and most helpful content (by our own estimation, admittedly).

The blog is made to post a constant feed of Christ-centered resources that we find as we learn more. We’ll post links to articles, sermons, websites, and books; we’ll also post our own content like book reviews, hermeneutic training, and Bible study material. Some of our writers are even going through books of the Bible and showing how they talk about Jesus, trying to explain the process as they go.

In trying to be as helpful as we can, we’ve included a feature called ask. The ask feature lets you ask all of our authors anything you want. We’re hoping you’ll use it to ask questions about interpretation, where to find resources, etc. If we can’t answer your question, we’ll post it and see if someone else in the community can answer.

Who Are You?

This question is difficult to answer. The original crew is mostly Philadelphia Biblical University (PBU) students who decided we wanted to help our churches and the church at large. We brainstormed the idea, brought in some friends from outside PBU, and that’s how we got to where we are today. Our theologies differ in many ways, but we love Jesus and believe that the entire Bible is about Him. Our group varies so much that it is hard to define us any other way. Each post on the blog has a link to the author’s profile; to learn more about an author, just click their name.

Can I Help?

We’re always looking for helpers. We need people to send us links, people to post on our Twitter, and people to write. If you’re interested in doing any of these, contact us. If none of those seems like something you can help with, then please pray for us. You can also be a part of the community by asking questions, posting comments, and sending feedback.
